We asked ChatGPT and Perplexity five questions a poultry executive or supplier marketer might ask, three times each, and recorded whether WATTPoultry was named or cited in the 30 answers. Then we checked how three WATTPoultry pages look to a crawler.
WATTPoultry showed up in 12 of 24 answers to questions that don't name it, but was named in only 6.
| Question | ChatGPT | Perplexity |
|---|---|---|
What is WATTPoultry? Branded | MC named 3/3 · cited 3/3 wattglobalmedia.com | MC named 3/3 · cited 3/3 wattagnet.com, wattglobalmedia.com |
Both engines describe WATTPoultry correctly. ChatGPT builds its description from WATT's advertiser materials on wattglobalmedia.com rather than from wattagnet.com. Cited instead:wattmediakit.comlinkedin.commeatconference.com | ||

Both engines answer with WATT PoultryUSA's 2025 ranking figures. ChatGPT credits legalclarity.org, a site that copied them. Perplexity links a years-old WATTPoultry article but never names WATT. Cited instead:legalclarity.orgaxios.comapnews.comwikipedia.org | ||
Who are the largest egg producers in the United States? Ranking | - named 0/3 · cited 0/3 | C named 0/3 · cited 3/3 wattagnet.com |

Where can I track current avian influenza outbreaks in US commercial poultry? Topical | - named 0/3 · cited 0/3 | - named 0/3 · cited 0/3 |

“Tyson Foods: Processing approximately 219.40 million pounds of RTC chicken per week”
ChatGPT, asked: Who are the largest chicken producers in the United States?
Source cited: legalclarity.org
The page ChatGPT cites says its figures come from annual surveys published by WATT PoultryUSA. ChatGPT passes on WATT's numbers and credits the copy, in all three runs.
On both ranking questions, the numbers the engines give come from WATT. ChatGPT credited a legal explainer site every time. Perplexity linked WATT but never said its name.
WATTPoultry runs an interactive map of HPAI cases in US, Mexican and Canadian commercial flocks. Neither engine mentioned it in six answers.
Asked what WATTPoultry is, or which poultry trade publications are best, both engines name it every time. The gap is between the brand and its data.
Editorial
Publish a dated top-10 table on the Top Poultry Companies page, with the measure in the header (million pounds ready-to-cook per week, 2025). Keep the full database gated. Engines can then quote WATT directly instead of the sites that copy it.
Targets: Chicken and egg producer questions
Give the map a stable URL, an opening paragraph that says what it tracks and how often it updates, and a visible updated date. Link it from every avian influenza story.
Targets: Avian influenza tracking question
Technical
Scripts, ad code and menus push the headline 36,000 tokens or more down every page sampled. Moving them below the article puts WATT's content inside the slice crawlers actually read.
Targets: Every question
An ItemList or Dataset with dateModified on the ranking pages, and Organization markup on the homepage naming WATT Global Media, wattagnet.com and the editors.
Targets: Ranking and brand questions
The Feed Pelleting Reference Guide lives on both feedstrategy.com and wattagnet.com, and each copy tells search engines it is the original. Pointing the wattagnet.com copy at the Feed Strategy page lets one title collect all the credit.
Requests without browser cookies to the homepage and the Top Poultry Companies page got a "Just a moment..." check from the CDN. Worth confirming in the CDN's bot settings that verified AI crawlers pass.
